World Podcast Day 2025: 6 Podcasts That Changed the Way I See Anxiety

Posted by Naomi Rohr on

Today is World Podcast Day, and I’m celebrating by highlighting the podcasts that have genuinely helped me understand, manage, and, most importantly, accept my anxiety.

Because here’s the thing: anxiety is a piece of me — not the definition of me.

If you love a good poddy (and especially if you or someone you care about lives with anxiety), these are worth adding to your queue. Each one brings something different to the table, and me being the helpful gal I am, I’ve done the reviews for you.

⚠️ Side note: some of the themes explored within these podcasts could be triggering. Please take care before tuning in.

🎧 Do You F**king Mind?

Mindset hacks for a badass life with Alexis Fernandis

I love mental health chats that don’t weigh you down — and Alexis delivers just that. With psychology, mindset hacks, and a sprinkle of neuroscience, this poddy is like a twice-weekly pep talk with your no-BS cheerleader. Fresh, fiery, and filter-free.

🎧 SelfHealers SoundBoard

Exploring trauma with The Holistic Psychologist, Dr Nicole LePera

This one goes deep, but it’s worth it. Every week brings raw, unscripted conversations about healing: generational trauma, nervous system regulation, grief, and everything in between. It’s educational, healing, and you’ll probably want a notebook handy for those lightbulb moments.

🎧 Anxiety Slayer

Relief tools with Shann Vander Leek & Ananga Sivyer

With over 10 million downloads, this podcast is practically anxiety-management royalty. Expect short, practical episodes filled with calming techniques and deeper insights into why anxiety shows up the way it does. Perfect for overwhelmed brains that need help one step at a time.

🎧 Minding Your Mind

Big conversations with Professor Ian Hickie & James O’Loghlin

This duo doesn’t shy away from big topics: death, guilt, regret, ambition. Alongside that, they dig into anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues with honesty and intelligence. It’s refreshing to hear conversations that balance personal insight with professional expertise.

🎧 Crappy to Happy

Real chats with psychologist Cass Dunn

Cass Dunn brings incredible guests to the table — from Turia Pitt to Clare Bowditch — sharing inspiring, relatable stories to help you feel a little less crappy and a little more happy. The topics are varied, thoughtful, and uplifting.

🎧 BONUS: Emsolation

Joyful chaos with Em Rusciano & Michael Lucas

Okay, this one isn’t about mental health — but sometimes you need a break between the heavier listens. Em Rusciano and Michael Lucas serve up a glittery mix of pop culture, music, and hot takes that feels like a lemon sorbet for your ears.

Final Thoughts

Podcasts have been a lifeline for me, not because they “cure” anxiety, but because they help me see it for what it is: just one part of who I am.

So, this World Podcast Day, why not treat your earbuds (and your mind) to something new?

👉 Got a recommendation? I’d love to hear what’s in your queue.

Yours in mental wellness,
